Sound Course for Videogames

This course provides you with the key tools and knowledge so that you can enter the video game industry and develop as a professional independently.
If you like video games, work in the audiovisual world, dedicate yourself to music or sound design, this course will allow you to explore and apply to new professional opportunities in a global industry with great growth potential.

Game Audio is designed so that you can fully navigate the tasks that make up sound work in video games; You acquire a different way of thinking, composing and implementing sound and music, and you learn to resolve the difficulties presented by the non-linear, interactive and multi-platform medium of video games. You will work individually and in multidisciplinary teams with students from other areas (Programming, Game Art, Game Design, Testing) developing video games originals that will be published.

What is Game Audio?

Game Audio is the universal term for the audio department in video game production. Develops tasks thought and conceived from the interactive needs presented by the medium, to support the narrative conceptually, propose the emotions that the player seeks to transmit and give information about the game. Among his tasks are: the design of sound effects and sound environments, foley, music composition and production, voice recording and its treatment to characterize characters, and fundamentally, the integration of all audio within the game. Build and implement non-linear systems so that the entire soundtrack adapts to the different states / situations that the gameplay addresses and composes generative audio systems to create in real time new and varied sound information options within the framework proposed in the audio design.

What do you learn?

  • Tools, techniques and theoretical concepts necessary to carry out fully, and autonomously, the different tasks that make up the world of sound and music in a video game.
  • Devise, create and transmit the narrative concepts typical of audiovisual communication, from a different way of thinking about sound and musical composition, designing non-linear audio systems and enriching video game production.
  • Work with software and plugins necessary to implement sound action events and audio mixes in real time, depending on the game.
  • Work on the sound and music of the game in an interactive, adaptive and generative way.
  • Voice processing for the creation of realistic and fantastic characters.
  • Create Sound Effects through multiple tools (audio processors, synthesizers, and recordings).
  • Tools and techniques for the composition and production of music by computer, oriented to work in videogames, taking into account the conceptual and its implementation in the game. 
  • Design your own virtual instrument patches.
  • Programming by code and in visual environments.
  • Acoustic simulations in immersive environments
  • Create scenarios in engines and add interactivity to develop your own experiences.
  • To understand in depth the process of making a video game, through internships with multidisciplinary teams developed at Image Campus.

Eugenio Taboada
Sound Designer, Artist and Teacher.
Co-founder of “Estudio i Latina”.
He studied sound direction at ENERC / INCAA, BA in Audiovisual Arts at UNA, and audio recording and post-production at TECSON as well as various artistic courses. He worked in the world of audio for media such as: Cinema and audiovisuals, sound and electronic art among others and for years he has specialized in the specific sound treatment required by the non-linear and interactive world of video games and virtual reality.
Together with Sergio Baretto, they founded Estudio i Latina, a technological art group that develops immersive interactive installation works, both personally and for various clients.
He works academically in teaching and in the design and implementation of study plans. He is coordinator of the sound area at Image Campus.
It belongs to the Argentine Association of Audiovisual Soundists (ASA). Sergio Baretto
Professional developer of video games and interactive experiences, co-founder of Estudio i Latina. He has worked in the audiovisual industry in software programming and video game development, working with various programming languages ​​and tools, focusing on multiplatform development and working with art and technology.
He has been involved in projects as a developer of interactive virtual spaces and applications for various artists and disciplines (Estudio i Latina) and projects of advergaming, serious games and games for children and educational in the areas of programming and production and as a technical leader in various teams work (Agonalea Games, Ludic Flame, Digi Learnnials).
In the educational field, he exercises the role of technical coordinator of the Image Campus area of ​​videogames and is a teacher at the Higher Technique in Videogame Development (Programming, Graphics Programming, Videogame Development), the Higher Technique in Art and Animation for Videogames (Video Game Development) and professional training courses (Programming, Unity, Game Art, Game Audio, Immersive Audio).
He has participated as a speaker in conferences such as: Immersive (UBA 2020), Electronic November 2020, the seminar Development of Artistic Installations in Virtual Spaces (MediaLab CCEBA 2020), and was a speaker at the 2016 Argentina Video Games Exhibition and jury for the video game categories of the MICSUR 2016 and Potency 2017 contests.

Luciano Martín Cabrera
Sound designer, professional musician, bassist, technician, producer and teacher.
He has worked in the world of audio since 2008 and since 2012 he began to specialize in the sound design of characters for video games, having participated in projects of companies such as Blizzard Entretainment, Sony and EA among others, and in 2016 he was invited to the Blizzard studios in Irvine.
Today he works, in partnership, in his own recording studio, devoted to research and sound design in new digital formats.

Carlos is an interactive audio developer for video games and new media. Graduated as a music producer from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and with a Master's degree in sound technology and innovation from Berklee College of Music, where he was also in charge of the applied technology laboratory.
He specializes in audio design and interactive sound programming. He has worked in several video games in Latin America such as Aztech Forgotten Gods (Lienzo), Guardian of Lore (Round 2 Games), Captain Toonhead vs the Punks from outer space (Teravision), among others.
