This career prepares you to design and produce art for video games at a professional level, learning the best techniques and tools used in the industry. You will comprehensively master the video game design process from concept to final version and create challenging projects with students and professionals from other disciplines.

What do you learn?

Concept Art and Illustration

You will learn the fundamental pillars of drawing such as anatomy, perspective, light and shadow, etc., as well as key design concepts to be able to generate the conceptual art of any type of project, design and illustrate characters and environments.

The concept art for video games is responsible for generating the ideas that a certain project is going to have. It is a discipline that is applied in the pre-production stage and where the characters, settings and objects necessary for a game to come to life are created.

You will also know and master the technical aspects necessary for the creation of assets for the games in which you are involved, whether they are sprites, items, backgrounds, interfaces and character design.

3D Modeling and Texturing

Modeling and texturing are key areas on a development team. Therefore, it is one of the most important aspects of the race and will allow you to develop yourself in the design and modeling of 3D characters, props and scenarios.
You will be able to create three-dimensional objects for various styles of video games with the latest technology used in the industry, mastering the production process from low poly 3D modeling to functional, stylized and realistic high poly.
You will master the processes that go from the assembly of a model sheet to the optimization techniques so that the 3D elements of the game have the maximum performance and are seen with the maximum quality.

The animation process is key to bringing characters and environments to life. In video games there are different mechanisms to animate, depending on the type of game, and styles to achieve different results according to the needs of the project.

You will learn 2D and 3D animation to give life to characters and elements of your game mastering the principles and software used in the industry at a professional level.

This is another of the nodal aspects of the career that will allow you to enter areas such as rigging, skinning and video game animation.

Integration and Production

The degree provides a framework to understand other disciplines involved in development in such a way that you understand them and can effectively interact in a team with a 360º vision.

You will work with the most used video game engines in the industry (Unity, Unreal Engine) to learn how to integrate and give details to your pieces of art, adding visual effects and generating the final result of what you devised at the beginning of the process.

You will learn what work methodologies are used professionally in the industry and how to direct and manage projects in their different phases of production, from planning to publication and commercialization.

This will allow you to broaden your criteria when making decisions about each project and share views on narrative, mechanics or gameplay, in a critical and justified way.

    Alexis Fioretti
    Teacher, professional and co-founder of Waypoint Studios with more than 10 years of experience in the industry. He worked interdisciplinary in the areas of video games, architecture and advertising. As a 3D artist and manager, he developed internationally recognized projects such as Fishing Kings, Hawks or Siberian Strike, for Gameloft. He is currently an environmental lead artist at Nimble Giant Entertainment. As a teacher and professional in such a specific field, he remains at the forefront of the latest trends to promote and encourage the growth of the Argentine industry.

    Sergio Baretto
    Graduated from the fourth class of video game developers at Image Campus, Sergio has worked in the audiovisual industry in areas of video game development and software programming. He works with various programming languages ​​and tools, focusing on multiplatform development. In 2011 he rejoined Image Campus as a teacher and since then he has specialized in training both students with programming knowledge, who want to be trained in specific tools and platforms, and those who, without prior knowledge, want to enter the world of programming of videogames. At the same time, it trains groups of professionals from important local video game production companies in content as these companies regularly hire at Image Campus. Sergio is one of the first Unity Certified Developers in Argentina, having completed his certification at the Unity offices in San Francisco during its launch at GDC2016.

    Pablo Hernán Fernández
    Autodidact. After having studied Computer Science at the UNLP, he became interested in the artistic section of computing, dedicating himself full time to the discipline of 3D. Starting with 3D Studio for DOS, he went through a variety of projects and platforms, accumulating experience in many different facets of production, both in advertising and video games and in film. In 2006 he joined Image Campus as a teacher, going through a multitude of specialties such as modeling, texturing, effects, rigging, animation, simulations, acting, software courses and training for companies.
